With a resounding 2-7 victory over Sparta, PSV C2 took the lead in Pool A of the spring competition yesterday. Apart from the first five minutes of the match, in which Sparta also scored the 1-0, the Rotterdammers were out of the game. Before half time Matthias Verreth scored a hat trick and Joey Konings made it 1-4 at halftime. Immediately after halftime Jaëll Hattu extended the lead to 1-5 and Matthias completed the seven with two more goals. Finally, Sparta did a little bit back, but it stayed at that 2-7.
PSV was lord and master in its third league game where more opposition was expected. In the first half, coach Twan Scheepers' team got stuck at 3-3 at home and faced a lot of opposition. Only in the last minute PSV came alongside.
Thanks to the win, the C2 is now alone in the lead with nine points from three games. Next week Vitesse/ AGOVV awaits; last year, after a very good first half, it ended up 2-4 for PSV.
