After a good preparation, 3rd place in Estonia and 2nd place in our own Otten tournament, today the league starts with fresh blood (new coach) on the bench against the always difficult Fc Utrecht.
We start brightly and do not let Utrecht get into their game. From both sides the game goes up and down and there are a few small chances for both teams. A good Utrecht chance is stopped well by Eric. After a corner by Elvio the attack is initially turned away by Utrecht, but Oussama manages to get hold of the ball again (a foul was committed in this case) and after an action he scores in the long corner. Elvio also got a nice chance and in injury time of the first half Menno headed just wide from a corner. So we go to rest with 0 - 1.
After the break Utrecht immediately put pressure on us and we had a difficult time. But again Eric is ready and he manages to change the direction of a hard shot and the ball goes over the bar. Utrecht starts to press a bit more and this creates more space between the lines and both teams have some nice chances in front of goal. Only Oussama managed to score after about an hour with a great shot from 25 meters which was unstoppable for the goalkeeper and made it 0 - 2. All in all a deserved victory for PSV. Next Saturday the second match of the cup is at home against Willem II.
