FC Twente started the match brightly and immediately put PSV under pressure. This yielded a goal for the visitors as early as the third minute. A combination through the center of PSV's defense put an FC Twente player in front of Peter. At first Peter managed to stop the shot but in the rebound he shot in hard: 0-1. PSV tried to get out from under the pressure of FC Twente but PSV could not find the free man. In the eighth minute PSV lost the ball unnecessarily in the FC Twente half. A nice through ball put the striker of the visitors in position. After a sprint of about 40 meters he shot the 0-2. PSV could not make a fist after this goal either. FC Twente was fiercer and faster in the combination. PSV was mainly searching but could not find an answer to the game of FC Twente. The first chance for PSV came in the 26th minute. A shot by Jur went just over. Two minutes later PSV got another free kick. This free kick too went just over.

FC Twente started the second half the same way they played the first half. In the 2nd minute of the second half PSV made a mistake in defense. An FC Twente player took over the ball and shot the 0-3. Also in the second half, PSV could not find the free man. FC Twente played with a lot of pressure forward and was much fiercer than the Eindhoveners. As a result, PSV hardly got into their game and PSV did not create any chances. It took until the 55th minute before PSV could do something back after a deep ball to Jeremy. Jeremy rounded the goalkeeper and shot the 1-3. One minute later, PSV had an opportunity to make the score a little more bearable. Heritier rounded a defender of the visitors but his shot hit the crossbar. The score remained 1-3.
