  1. Match report

Leading up to the topper on Queen's Day against Cortgene/JOVZ B1 was today's match against RKVVO. Midweek both PSV (away at GJS with 0-2) and Cortgene/JOVZ (away at #3 JEKA with 0-3) won. Which for the standings means that PSV still has 2 less loss points. With 3 rounds left to play.
So today, RKVVO. A team we had a lot of trouble with in Oerle, and scored a narrow 1-2 victory thanks to a very late goal. So the issue was to play with concentration and, given the upcoming schedule, to get to a "safe" lead quickly. To promote fast ball circulation, we played on the artificial turf pitch. PSV started the match well, and already in the 1st minute Rai Vloet was put free in front of the goalkeeper via a through pass from Mohammed Rayhi. Instead of extending the ball immediately, Rai tried to get around the goalkeeper. Unfortunately the goalkeeper did not step in. Not much later Sander Heesakkers came through well on the left and delivered a fine cross. At the 2nd post Moussa Sanoh took the ball on his slipper. But he did not get it full on his boot, so there was no power behind his shot. In the 12th minute, PSV still took the deserved lead. Again Rai was set free in front of the goal by Mohammed via a cross. An identical situation as in the 1st minute. But now Rai decided to take the ball, and this time he did score: 1-0. A minute later goalkeeper Zeus de la Paz had to intervene when the RKVVO right back suddenly appeared in the goal area. Zeus made a good save at the cost of a corner that yielded nothing. This was also the only appearance of Zeus' name.
After a quarter of an hour Sven van de Kerkhof came up from the back straight through the middle. At the right moment he played in Rai, who cleared the ball cleverly, but unfortunately there was a mishmash of yellow RKVVO players in front of him so his effort did not hit the target. The next attack, however, was a success: Michaël received the ball about 20 meters before the goal, and via some hooding and twisting he put it nicely in front of his strong left leg. With a hard and dry shot he passed the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. After PSV left a few chances and opportunities unused, Michael scored his 2nd goal. Once again Mohammed Rayhi was at the heart of it as he beat two men on the left and laid the ball wide at the right moment. All Michaël had to do was run against it. Because PSV hit the aluminum a couple of times before halftime and not the net, they went into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
After half time Sam Schuite and Aron Schnorrenberg came on for Sven van de Kerkhof and Olivier Rommens. And immediately PSV continued the game of the 1st half: Vinnie Vermeer put the ball ready for Rai on his head. But he touched the ball the wrong way. After Clint Leemans almost scored directly from a free kick and Moussa Sanoh almost crowned an action with a shot into the far corner, trainer Jefta Bresser changed double again. Joep van Vroenhoven and Passeka Kargbo came into the field for Vinnie Vermeer and Michaël Maria. As a result, a few positions were filled by other players. After a short period of acclimatization, PSV put a smooth attack on the pitch: Rai sent Moussa into the depths on the right, and he reached the back line and sent a hard, tight cross to the incoming Passeka. With a slide, an RKVVO player was just able to save at the cost of a corner. It was only a stay of execution. Clint Leemans positioned himself behind the corner ball and his beautifully cut kick was unerringly headed in by Rai: 4-0. RKVVO gave in and in a short space of time PSV extended the lead. First it was Clint who scored from an assist by Moussa. Then it was Sam Schuite who put the 6-0 on the board from the penalty spot (Joep got a huge swish after a corner). The 7-0 was a real beauty! A beautiful, fast attack slipped like a hot knife through the "butter defense" of RKVVO. Via Passeka, the ball eventually came back to the feet of Clint, who walked through and found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper and scored easily and controlled. The final score was put on the board by Sander Heesakkers. Through a strong action he came through on the left and at the right moment he pulled the trigger to score in the far corner. Because in the closing stages the real sharpness was a bit off (perhaps due to the heat) the counter remained at 8.
An easy win today. Next Tuesday we play the current number 3, JEKA from Breda. Again an absolute must to keep the 3 points in Eindhoven! To then go into the game against Cortgene/JOVZ on Saturday, April 30 as front runner.
