  1. Match report

F1 also wins last league game

On Wednesday evening the final league game was scheduled for F1. In Best they had to face Wilhelmina Boys, a strong opponent (number 2 at "only" 5 points behind).

The preparation did not go smoothly. Ruud was too injured to play. Bjorn and James were stuck in traffic, Pepijn had forgotten his gloves and to make matters worse, it started to rain heavily. Occasional coach Jefta had to pull out all the stops to get the boys on their toes.

In the first half, this was completely unsuccessful. Almost all the duels were lost by the PSV players, the actions were already blocked by the second opponent and when someone ran away with the ball, the rest was watching.

Still, they took a 0-1 lead. From a corner it was Baggio who managed to get his heel against the ball. With that he scored the 100th goal in the league. Characteristic of the first half was the way this goal was celebrated. Where in recent weeks this would lead to an outburst of joy, today they let it pass soberly. Was it the weather, were they tired from the tough weekend or were they impressed by the referee, who occasionally tried to give away a one-man show?

It was inevitable today that the opponent would take advantage of this. A Wilhelmina Boys player was given a free pass towards Merijn's goal. His high shot was well stopped by Merijn, but no one was attentive to the rebound: 1-1.

Shortly thereafter, again no one intervened, allowing a player to score freely. Merijn was beaten again in the far corner by the inside post: 2-1.
Fortunately, PSV was able to put a different face on the second half. They were a lot more eager and the Wilhelmina Boys' strength slowly drained away.
A nice solo by James stranded on the goalkeeper, but now they were attentive on the second ball. Robin shot in impeccably: 2-2.

The highlight of the evening came in the name of Jordan. After cutting out his direct opponent he drove the ball with full conviction into the cross: 2-3.

The same Jordan also scored the last goal of the evening. With a nice pass he served Robin who finished in a beautiful way: 2-4.
Thus F1 ends the E-competition undefeated and has broken the magic 100-goal barrier. Today it was perhaps a little less, but it cannot always be a celebration.

    On to the tournaments!

    Baggio (1X)
    Robin (2x)
    Jordan (1X)
