On this beautiful Saturday morning we had to face Ajax F1. There was a healthy tension among both the players/coaches and the parents, as everyone was curious to see how this match would go. It became a real match played on the edge, where the healthy rivalry was clearly noticeable. Coach Mart had chosen the following lineup today: Victor , Joël , Mathijs , and Niels was the defensive block , in midfield were Yorbe , Dani and Mees and our striker was Quin. Damian and Shurandy started as substitutes , because they already had a game in the legs from earlier in the morning ( 5 - 3 win over Bladella ). Today we played a game of 3 x 20 minutes and 8 against 8 instead of 7 against 7.

The first half the game went up and down nicely, and we could enjoy nice individual actions on both sides. Victor had to intervene a few times, but Yorbe had a good chance in the 5 minute but his effort went unfortunately just wide. The game was full of passion and fight, everyone fought for every meter, so the 1st half ended with a 0 - 0 score.

The 2nd half was for Ajax, because the concentration was gone for a moment, their agile number 10 scored the 0 - 1. We came under pressure and couldn't get out of the game, but despite this we stood our ground defensively. The 0-2 fell from a referee's ball that fell at the feet of an Ajax player and shot it unstoppable into the top corner. The latter part of the second half we regained some control of the game and again became dangerous in front of the Ajax goal. Two free kicks, one taken by Joël and the other by Dani created a lot of danger but did not result in a goal. We thought we were getting back into the game but Ajax made it 0 - 3 1 minute before the end of the 2nd half.

After a good pep talk from coach Mart we started the 3rd half very well and put Ajax under pressure which immediately resulted in a very nice goal. The ball was played in to Yorbe who outplayed his opponent nicely and then delivered a great cross to our striker Quin who did not miss this opportunity ( 1 - 3 ). After that we had some good chances as well, but the Ajax goalie played well and kept the score at 1 - 3. The last part of the match both teams were completely worn out ( What an effort !!!! ) so the score remained unchanged.
