  1. Match report

PSV C2 convincingly won its second-to-last league match against Willem II on Saturday. The solid 6-0 came about after halftime; in the first half only one goal was scored. PSV does not gain much from the victory, because leader Ajax won (albeit narrowly with 0-1) against Vitesse and next Saturday against Volendam they only need one point to become champion. Second place, however, is still within reach. A win against De Graafschap and the second placed DO Den Haag need to drop points. If both PSV and ADO win, the C2 can still become second behind Ajax on goal difference. PSV has to score well in Doetinchem and ADO has to hold back against Utrecht.
Back to Saturday. Willem II had no real chance and it was due to the nonchalance of PSV that it was not already 4-0 at half time. The big chances PSV got did not materialize, so that only Dante Rigo's goal was on the scoreboard after the first half (a scoreboard that was not there, but just the idea).
After halftime a similar picture: an attacking PSV and a Willem II that tried to get out from under the pressure with quick breakaways, but was just as deftly caught by the defense. In the end, PSV managed to make another breach in the defense through Jaëll Hattu and then the floodgates opened for the Tilburgers. Successively Lennerd Daneels, Matthias Verreth, Mink Peeters and Ertem Bölükbas managed to score and that was all, although the score could have been higher. After last week's slip-up against AZ (5-0 loss), PSV C2 recorded an excellent victory on Saturday and is still in the race for second place.
