  1. Match report

PSV did not have it Saturday and tumbled to 3rd place in the league table after the deserved defeat against Feyenoord and the win by rival AZ.

Feyenoord triumphed based on match mentality, had come to brush away the recent defeat in Rotterdam and succeeded in doing so in fairly easy fashion. PSV were hardly in any danger throughout the game and only threatened Feyenoord's goal once in the first half, also from an otherwise good deep ball from Jordan that Justin almost headed over the keeper, who only just managed to grab the ball with his fingertips. Feyenoord had almost made it 0-1 a few minutes earlier when the ball was put back in after a deflected corner and volleyed in hard, but it hit the bar above Youri. Youri then prevented another goal with two excellent saves when a Feyenoord player came towards him at speed around the 20th minute and shot the ball tightly over the ground and 10 minutes later when Feyenoord came in front of the goal and the ball was shot in from close range but he tapped it wide.

The second half had barely started when Feyenoord crushed PSV's intentions to get ahead. In the 3rd minute a Feyenoord player was sent into the penalty area on the left side and he shot straight into the far corner, 0-1. PSV were unable to create any major chances in the second half and were unable to turn the game around. If there were any doubts about that, Feyenoord secured the win in the 76th minute when the ball was rumbled forward from behind to the right-wing striker, who was able to head the ball away from Youri unchallenged and slide the ball under him into the empty goal, 0-2.

PSV can take revenge for this lackluster loss next week in the home match against FC Twente.
