After last week's disappointing match the o15 played in and against Volendam (2-2), another away game was now on the cards. This time the trip went to Nijmegen. There awaited a tough opponent if you see the results and goal difference. With 14 points after 8 rounds of play, Nijmegen had only 3 points less than PSV. The goal difference of 14-13 said perhaps even more. A team that gets few goals against and scores few goals itself. PSV was in for a treat.
PSV took control from the start. By putting high pressure, Nec did not get the time and space to even think of attacking. Not surprisingly, PSV took an early lead. Jeremy Antonisse recaptured the ball on the back line in the 8th minute and laid well back to Amin Doudah who had no problem scoring the 0-1.
Two minutes after the opening goal, PSV was already close to scoring the 0-2 when Jason Pigmans went through well on the left and delivered a good cross. At the 2nd post Jeremy was able to head in, but unfortunately he was unable to add enough power and direction to his header.
It turned out to be just a stay of execution. A minute later the 0-2 was still on the big scoreboard. After early pressure Amin got the ball and he sent striker Jur Clabbers well away. Jur stayed calm in front of the goal and scored the 0-2 easily.
PSV continued to dominate but was not sharp in front of the goal. PSV continued to dominate the game but was just not sharp enough in front of the goal at times.
Defensively, PSV had little to fear from Nec today. Robin had to intervene twice in the first half. Once with a deep ball and once with an effort from inside the 16.
After half time Nec started to play 1 on 1 at the back to try and force something. However, the Eindhoven players were not deterred and continued to be the better team in the second half.
A great pass from Heritier Deyonge was unfortunately not promoted to goal by Jur in the 39th minute. But a minute later the Nec goalie was still able to get the ball out of the net. Joost de Schutter got the ball and slalomed through the Nec defense as if no one was standing there. To then shoot the ball hard and dry into the right corner with his left: 0-3.
Less than a minute later it was already 0-4. Jason passed his opponent once again and delivered a superb cross that Kees van Lindert fired in impeccably.
This decided the match. PSV still had some opportunities to increase their lead. But a free kick by Joost went just over, and Jeremy saw a fine shot denied by the Nijmegen goalie.
Joost also saw his header turned away in the closing stages after a good corner by Joep Kluskens, so no more goals were scored.
A clear, justified and convincing victory with good football and also the zero in the back. Even better: apart from one small chance we gave away nothing at all. Excellent!
Next week the o15 can be admired again at De Herdgang against Fc Utrecht. To keep the pressure on (the so far error-free) Ajax high, a victory is necessary again.
