The away game Willem II is always a tough one for PSV. A derby and all the additional aspects make it a special match every year. So was today. At least the weather was good this time. A match with two different halves. One half with few chances in which we score and one half with several good chances in which we do not manage to find the net.In the first half PSV has a lot of ball possession but the first twenty minutes there are few chances and Willem II even manages to hit the crossbar out of Zeus' reach on a rare break. Then after 21 minutes an attack on the left via Olivier and Ryan and the goalkeeper can pick up the ball and suddenly Ryan is right in front of the goal line with the ball at his foot. So 0 - 1.
We are really better now and play fast combination football and after 28 minutes an attack is set up by Bram and finally it is Ryan again who is the last to hit the ball and the 0 - 2 is a fact. Then it goes fast. A long ball from behind by Kaan is great taken by Moussa and the defender of Willem II grabs with a whistle as a result and the ball goes to the spot. Mohamad knows how to deal with this and it is 0 - 3. Five minutes later another attack on the right and Moussa crossed hard and Olivier shot the 0 - 4 from 14 meters. We would like to continue but then it turns out that even with budding young pros it is still very difficult to have the discipline to maintain the same level for 90 minutes. In the second half, we had a number of licking chances, but then it became clear that it was still difficult to think in terms of team importance.
If we can get the hang of this too, we will take a lot more points and certainly be able to finish with an unprecedented goal difference for us.
Next week the next bump on our road and that is Heerenveen. A dangerous opponent and fellow competitor. Good luck and see you next week.
After this afternoon's second half, this week's lesson is: under valleys you cannot enjoy the peaks.
Goodbye.
