Today the difficult away match against N.E.C. was scheduled. The coach made it clear in the game recital how important this match is, it is drop out or stay in the game. N.E.C. started the match well grouped, their intention was clear, try to keep the spaces small and then get out quickly by using the long ball. PSV struggled in the beginning of the match, and could not find the space on the pitch. After 15 minutes, PSV got a better grip on N.E.C.'s play. In the 20 minute the ball came from a free kick from the side in front of the goal, the N.E.C. defense managed to clear the ball at first, but Cody was very attentive and with a shot from 20 meters via the underside of the crossbar it was 0-1. After 25 minutes N.E.C. came in front of goalie Arne for the first time, but the shot from 25 meters went well over. After 32 minutes James came forward and his shot hit the bar. Cody also had a chance in the last minutes of the first half, but it was nicely stopped by the N.E.C. goalkeeper. PSV could rest with a 0-1 lead.
The coach mentioned in the break that the final pass had to be better, the play was good but just the last pass was not good enough to become more dangerous.
The second half started as the first half ended, with PSV playing well and N.E.C. countering. Amar tried his luck in the 47th minute with a shot on goal, which was neatly stopped by the NEC goalkeeper. In the 49th minute Baggio took advantage of the space given to him, he quickly made a lot of meters and then gave a good pass to Yasin who passed 2 men and brought the ball back from the back line towards the penalty spot where of course Cody was standing, chances like that are wasted on him so the 0-2 was on the scoreboard. 1 Minute later it was again Cody who reacted well to a nice depth pass from Robin 0-3. Even after the -0-3 PSV remained the better team although NEC became fiercer in the duels, but thanks to the very good playing Armando the physically strong striker did not get into his game. In the 68th minute NEC came up from the side and could score through a cross that was neatly headed in and on which Pepijn had no chance 1-3.
A neat victory for the boys of PSV C2 , and with this they pass Ajax again on the shared 1st place of the rankings. Now prepare for the tournaments of Texel, and for some players the tournament in Turkey, then pick up the threads for the remainder of the competition starting with the game on Saturday, April 6 against Twente.
