The winter break is over. Everyone is fit for the second half of the competition in which we will face the strongest teams in the Netherlands. Saturday's first opponent was AZ, and it did not quite go as planned.
PSV played sloppy, had trouble getting the ball to each other, and lost a lot of ball, which allowed the opponent to become dangerous. In the 31st minute, clumsy ball loss in PSV's defense resulted in the first goal.
In the second half, PSV did not manage to recover, and in the fifth minute AZ took a 0-2 lead through yet another mistake in PSV's defense.
A few minutes later, PSV was able to do something back. A free kick by Vince came back off the crossbar, and after the ball was played back into the penalty area, Abou was able to work it in with his heel, 1-2.
In the 23rd minute another goal was scored at the other end, when AZ crossed the back line from the left, played the ball back and tapped it in, 1-3.
PSV did come back to 2-3 through a fine goal by Gregory, but could not give AZ any more trouble.
Let's hope the team recovers as it did in the first half of the league. Then we will definitely compete for the top places.
