  1. Match report

    Champions!

Everyone saw it coming a long time ago, but today it really happened: PSV F1 has become champion.
In the penultimate game of the competition they had to deal with WVVZ today.
Whether it had to do with the tension is not really clear, but our boys played a very restless game today. Many balls disappeared over the sideline or stranded in the WVVZ defense. Typical of this early phase was therefore the 1st "pinball goal". A shot/pass by James was worked against the post by Luc and finished off by Baggio: 1-0.
The same Luc later took a Baggio corner in one go and made it 2-0. And then things went PSV style again: the goals came at a fast pace. The 3-0 was an unfortunate own goal after Cody had pulled the ball across the back line. The fourth goal was preceded by a nice solo action by captain Ruud. He passed 4 opponents and then enabled Cody to score.
Bjorn was the great preparer for the fifth goal. His shot with the right (!) couldn't hold the goalkeeper, and there was Cody again to score.
Jordan also showed his mettle by firing a corner kick from distance into the goal (6-0).
And again there was Cody, this time securing his own free pass: 7-0.
Goal 8 was particularly hilarious. Cody thought to score again with a distance shot but it was Armando who blocked his shot and managed to score from the half turn himself: 8-0. Also halftime score.
In the second half the boys were perhaps already thinking about champagne. It was all a little less careful. Still 6 goals were scored.
Ruud scored after good preparatory work by Luc. James rounded off a solo nicely and Cody scored with his head after a cross from James.
The most beautiful goal came from Jordan who saw his long-range shot fly into the top left corner.
Good preparatory work by Robin allowed Luc to score the 13th. And it was the same Luc who drove a WVVZ defender to despair to make it 14-0.
After the final signal all brakes were released and the championship was celebrated exuberantly.
The leaders were honored, the players were praised by Edward Sturing (head of youth training) and received a nice cup. Of course champagne was also served!
Then there was plenty of partying in the locker room (with the clothes on in the shower!) and in the canteen (including the PSV championship cake).
The best gift, however, had already been announced earlier. The players and leaders were all allowed to go to the Kuip to watch the Netherlands - Luxembourg match. The PSV banner went with them, so Rotterdam will know that PSV F1 has become champion.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the fun day.

Goals: Baggio, Luc (2x), Cody (4x), James, Jordan (2x), Armando, Ruud, Own goal (2x)
