This Saturday the away match at "de Toekomst" at Ajax was scheduled. Attempts to postpone the match due to a number of absentees were not honored. Mathijs and Yorbe are with the o16 on a tournament in England, and the unfortunate Shurandy broke his forearm last week. Good luck Shu!
Fortunately we can call on three o14 players again this Saturday, namely Jayden, Mathijs and Joost. Jayden also started immediately as no 9. With Beslan and Dani on the flanks. Mo at 10 behind them.
After the referee rejected Jurre's bright yellow goalkeeper's shirt because it looked too much like Ajax's bright green, the match could begin. Ajax was especially physically dominant at times, but PSV was able to bravely resist and neither team really became dangerous. This resulted in a 0-0 halftime score, after which the finishing touches could be added during tea.
Directly after halftime Ajax again started fiercely, and PSV went down 1-0 after an unfortunate moment by Jurre. Instead of putting their heads down, PSV stepped up their game and became the dominant team. Jayden was sent away beautifully by the strong Lars Koolen and our striker finished neatly, 1-1 and well deserved!
The team did not slow down but continued to work hard together. 10 minutes after the equalizer, PSV took the lead in Amsterdam. Dani cleverly turned free and was able to pass the ball to Lars Koolen, who thundered over from the side. Lars crossed hard and tight and once again Jayden popped the ball into the ropes. Two goals in Amsterdam, against his old club!
After another hot quarter of an hour, with the necessary substitutions, discussions and injuries, the referee blew the whistle and the party could begin. In the dressing room all the emotions came out, and it became a big party. The boys all deserve a big compliment for the game, and the work ethic. So you see what you can achieve, if you play as a close team and fight for each other.
Next week we have a free weekend and after that we have to work hard to continue this line!
Jurre Schaafsma; Lars Koolen, Mees Kreekels, Elgero King, Jochem van Dijk; Damian Timan (c) (Joost de Schutter 68'), Dennis Vos (Stijn Vd Put 55'), Mo Ihattaren; Beslan Sagov (Thijs Martens 45'), Jayden Braaf, Dani Mathieu (Mathijs Tielemans 65')
