  1. Match report

Today in Eindhoven at the Herdgang there was a battle for place 2 in the standings. There should and would be a nice duel here, but the PSV D3 versus VVV Venlo D2 duel was a match that was not really full of excitement. That does not mean that there were no good combinations to be seen, but some inquiries confirmed my statement. It was not a match that would remain etched in our memories.
Was it because trainer Colin could not handle the pressure [he had other obligations, training a C team] or was it because of the beautiful weather our boys were enjoying. Trainer Bastiaan took over as coach.
PSV immediately started well with a first chance for Robin but he still had a little too much sympathy for VVV and decided on the goalkeeper.
He shouldn't have had that because neither did VVV. From the first chance the goal was scored right away. A corner kick that could not be cleared was headed in by a Venlo player. Stan hopeless. 0-1.
Cody who recovers a ball well in the middle can almost reach Ruud, but there is a VVV foot in between. The resulting corner yields nothing.
The very big right wing attacker [ almost two meters ] of Venlo can be stopped by Luc , Bjorn and Lars at first. But a little later that double meter really hurt our defenders by scoring the 0-2. He was sent into the depth and put the ball under Stan in a controlled way.
On a free kick for PSV, Armando put himself behind the ball and saw his peg pushed over by Venlo's goalkeeper. The tying goal was almost a fact.
3 minutes before half time, PSV did score. Cody with a brilliant pass to Ruud and he only has to bang the ball into the net. He does so with great pleasure. 1-2.
    We have a game again.
Just before halftime, Stan has to pull out all the stops again to take a shot in the short corner. He does this just fine and it remains 1-2 until halftime.

After the break, a quick attack by VVV, Arne parried, the ball came back into the feet of the VVV attacker and Luc was just able to prevent the goal. A rock in the fire, that Luc.
A shot by Ruud was stopped, Robin was whistled back after a minor foul and Armando was able to block a visitor's shot. As you can read, the game was going up and down but we lacked the real drive to devour VVV.
In the 42` minute Arne is still in the sixteen when that double meter pops up again, he leaves in time but still gets to the ball too late and is outplayed, it is 1-3.
Roland who after a clever action puts his mate Huseyin in position can count on an almost perfect finish, Hus looks at goal and paints the ball exactly where he wants it. A delicious curl from just outside the sixteen. Bingo, 2-3.
On yet another deep ball, Arne is now in time to clear but the striker leaves his foot hanging and kicks the foot of Arne who can't continue and has to be replaced by Stan.
Bjorn , now as left forward, is nicely sent into the depth by Ruud but just can't reach the ball.
James has the last chance to put the 3-3 on the scoreboard but his shot lacks power.
