O16 encounters efficient Ajax
Ajax took full advantage Saturday at the Herdgang of the total lack of sharpness and decisiveness on the Eindhoven side. Where PSV had ample opportunity to take the game before halftime and decide it definitively, it failed to take at least four 100% chances and thus gave Ajax the opportunity to show itself extremely effective by deciding the match in two moments despite far fewer chances.
PSV O16 had a tumultuous week, with coach Kevin Hofland parting ways and making the move to Fortuna Sittard. The question was whether that would affect the team. However, there seemed to be no question of that. Coached by interim trainers Rick Antonisse and Tim Wolf, PSV, without declassifying Ajax, had by far the most claim to a - wide - lead in the first half. Although Ajax opened the scoring in the 11th minute, PSV created a large number of chances, especially in the second part of the first half, none of which were exploited, however. A number of times the Amsterdam goalkeeper was more eager in a scrimmage, several times a good sharp cross went untouched past despite occupation in front of the goal. But almost hit is completely wrong and PSV had themselves to blame for being behind at halftime.
That the first half had not built a comfortable lead made itself felt emphatically in the second half. Unlike before the break, PSV hardly managed to become dangerous or create any real chances. Although Ajax did not dominate or create any real danger, a few minutes before the final whistle, the Amsterdammers finally put the game away, 0-2.
