  1. Match report

PSV C1 loses unbeaten status at home against Sparta.

Last Saturday another topper on the program for PSV C1. The number 2 of the league, Sparta Rotterdam, came to the Herdgang.
Apart from Robin, who played with the B2, and Ruud, who is unfortunately still injured, trainers Edwin and Joonas had a fit group at their disposal.

In the first phase of the match both teams started to feel each other out, and neither was able to take the initiative. The game was mostly concentrated in the midfield and in the first half hour neither side had a goal.

In the 31st minute Leandro was hooked at the point sixteen, which resulted in a free kick. Justin swung the ball across and it was Armando who rose above everything and everyone and headed in the 1-0. Armando has been scoring a lot in recent weeks. After this, PSV seemed to throw off the diffidence for a moment, and got more courage and space to play football. A minute after the 1-0, the hard working Yasin crossed well and tightly, but Cody unfortunately slipped, and the chance was gone. A minute before halftime an almost identical action by Yasin, who was sent away by James. Again Cody slipped, and the rebound was unfortunately slipped by Leandro and saved by the Sparta goalie. After this Sparta also created their first chance, but from a deflected corner the Rotterdammers shot against the well placed Armando. With 1-0 both teams went to the dressing room.

Unfortunately Gaetan had to leave the team at half time due to a knee injury suffered in the first half. Remco replaced him, leaving Leandro to play in midfield. PSV unfortunately did not start strongly, and after a few minutes a sloppy cross from Leandro led to difficulties for Lars and Armando. The Sparta striker took advantage and outmaneuvered Arne 1-on-1 and slid in the equalizer.
After 10 minutes in the second half, PSV got a free kick about 20 meters away from the Sparta goal. Armando positioned himself behind the ball, and pegged brilliantly at the crossbar, unfortunately keeping the score balanced. The somewhat unjustified 2-1 would have given PSV some air, because the last 20 minutes it was Sparta that beat the clock. Aided by wrong choices, personal mistakes and a lot of sloppiness on the PSV side, the guests from Rotterdam managed to run out to a flattered 1-4. Even Amar, substituted for Cody, could not change the situation.

A lesson in effectiveness and hard work. There were too many players who did not reach their level today. Sparta takes over the number 1 position on the league table from PSV C1. Next week the cup game against Volendam is on the calendar.

Arne, Lars, Armando, James, Jordan. Gaetan (36' Remco), Justin, Baggio. Leandro, Cody (57' Amar), Yasin.
