After a league-less weekend, PSV's o15 entered this Saturday's match against newcomer premier league side Sparta. Of course our congratulations for winning the championship in the Jupiler League.
The under 15 teams now faced each other for the 3rd time this season. Both previous editions were at De Herdgang and ended in a draw. In the cup it was 2-2 after PSV made better use of the penalties, and in the league the game ended 3-3. A nice game in advance, you might say.
The first opportunity was for PSV. In the 5th minute Jayden Braaf almost took advantage of the Sparta goalkeeper losing the ball outside the penalty area. The game went up and down, but neither team could create any real chances. Once again Jayden was close to the opening goal when a high effort from Dennis Vos bounced over the goalkeeper and he was able to hit the ball in the corner. It remained a corner that was then headed wide by Elgero King.
After Thijs Martens almost succeeded with a volley in the 18th minute, Sparta took the lead a minute later. A corner was shot in from close range. Where it was already a miracle that Jurre Schaafsma was able to turn the effort away at first, he was completely defenseless in the rebound.
A few minutes before halftime the home team extended the lead to 2-0. A long ball sent the striker into the deep and he knew what to do with it.
The second half started with great chances for both teams. First Sparta missed the chance to make it 3-0 and then Jayden shot at the post after good individual action. In the 39th minute it was a goal. Sparta took a 3-0 lead and that decided the game. Not much happened for goals after that. Sparta did score 4-0 in the 53rd minute for the statistics. Besides some chances for Jayden and Dennis there was nothing to note in the second half.
The team lost by a large margin and will have to change their tune next Tuesday to have a chance of winning the cup semi-final against Ajax.
