PSV's away game last Saturday against FC Twente was in everything a mirror image of the last 2 disappointing league games, in which both times a good 1st half was followed by an inferior 2nd half and the failure to take advantage of a large number of scoring chances eventually avenged itself.

The B2 did not play its best game of the season on Saturday in Hengelo and, especially in the 1st half, struggled with the field of play that was kept large by Twente and well exploited for their quick turnovers, but nevertheless controlled the game by scoring every time and at exactly the right moment, leaving Twente continuously behind. In the 11th minute, PSV opened the scoring when Arnaut Groeneveld, after an excellent action on the right flank, placed the ball precisely on the head of the free Youandi Renfurm, who beautifully headed in the 0-1 counterwise. Although Twente also had chances in the first half, especially from quick counter-attacks, striker Matthias Verreth increased the margin on the stroke of half-time after the Twente goalkeeper mishandled a Steven Bergwijn cross and the ball fell at his feet; he did not hesitate for a moment and drove the ball hard half-volley into the ropes, 0-2.

Coach Twan Scheepers' assignment for the second half was no different from the previous weeks: keep calm and control and hold on to the lead. And as if only now the realization had dawned as to what the coach had meant by that for weeks, the players carried out that assignment excellently. Within 10 minutes Dirk Abels scored the 0-3 on a pass from Arnaut Groeneveld, and less than five minutes later Youandi Renfurm headed in his second of the game from a cross from Matthias Verreth. After Twente scored the deserved goal in the 56th minute, Dirk Abels sent substitute Emilio Prieto y Gorgosz alone with a fantastic deep pass to the Twente goalkeeper, who was beaten by a controlled slide in, 1-5. A somewhat flattering result given the match pattern, although the B2 deserves a compliment for the way in which, especially in the second half under the pressure of the last few matches, they fulfilled the task with which the team was sent into the field.
