Match report:
There are those days when you have a bad premonition. And you hope with all your heart that this feeling does not come true. PSV had just returned from Italy after an exhausting trip and did not start today against direct rival Willem II in the battle for first place.
PSV could get their teeth wet against a super-motivated, always tough and especially physical Willem II. However, PSV surprised friend and foe alike, dispelling the bad feeling within minutes. PSV played fresh off the delivery and treated the traveling supporters to eye-catching football. Within 5 minutes of the starting whistle, PSV scored 2 goals and laid the foundation for an excellent victory. PSV got 2 more chances. Just before halftime the 3rd and deserved goal fell. Willem II annoyingly scored a goal on the stroke of halftime, so the game was by no means over as far as the 2nd half was concerned.
As expected, Willem II went on the attack in the second half, but PSV played with concentration, coolness and professionalism. PSV lurked on the counter and was close to success on two occasions. But because PSV did not lock up the game early on, Willem II's belief in a good result remained and therefore the tension in the match remained. However, no more goals were scored in the second half and PSV can call themselves leaders for the first time this season after an excellent and well-deserved victory.
