PSV played well today, but failed hopelessly in finishing. PSV pressed Feyenoord in their own half and got half a dozen good even imposed chances, including even 2 penalty kicks. This was offset by a chance for Feyenoord from a corner kick.
However, an unwritten law of football says: if you don't score, the opponent will. And so it happened. Just before the final whistle of regular playing time and before the penalty shootout, an innocent-looking ball fell out of nowhere in the PSV 16-meter area and plopped into the far corner behind a bewildered PSV goalie with a strange curve. The time that followed was too short to turn the tide. And with that, the cup dream was immediately over for PSV. No quarterfinals or more.
I wish you Happy Holidays and a good end. A few weeks of rest and then we will be ready in January 2013 for the start of the second half of the season in which the best prize can be earned.
