Coach Twan Scheepers' team achieved a steady victory over the guests from Rotterdam. Although the guests also had a number of opportunities in the first half, PSV in particular failed to capitalize on a number of big chances. Nevertheless, PSV went into the break with a 1-0 lead, when striker Martijn Berden went off alone on the goalkeeper in injury time after a mistake in the Sparta defense and finished in a controlled manner.

In the better second half, PSV expanded the score in a controlled manner. Although Sparta equalized soon after halftime and hit the post, Sam Lammers made it 3-1 with two fine goals. Especially the 2-1 was of great beauty. After a well set up attack midfielder Philippe Rommens came through on the left and his measured cross reached the free standing Sam who volleyed the ball into the ropes. A deserved victory for the B2.
