  1. Match report

Unique! As far as I know, today is the first time we start with the same base in two consecutive games.

After the 'shambles' last Tuesday in Sittard and the half slip last Saturday at home against Dordrecht, title aspirations have been put on hold for the time being. So we can play football frankly and freely. With Nec today, we encountered a tough team that won with a narrow and difficult 1-0 in Eindhoven.

From the opening signal, Nec folded back. PSV had a lot of ball possession, but could not find a hole in the well-organized Nec defense. In the 8th minute, Yasin Aalillou almost hit the target. However, his shot was turned into a corner by the Nijmegen goalkeeper.

Despite PSV having by far the most ball possession, Nec was the team with the best chances in the first half. In the 14th minute, goalkeeper Arne Lekens had to contain further danger by heading the ball away from outside the 16. Just 5 minutes later Arne had to save again in a 1 on 1 duel in which he prevented a seemingly certain goal by splitting with his left foot.

PSV continued to be the better team. But Justin Lonwijk was unlucky several times with his shots. Leandro Fernandes was also close to scoring the opening goal, but his flaming shot went just over.

But Nec was also close to scoring 1-0 on a number of occasions. It looked as if the game would rest with the well known "glasses level". PSV was disappointed: just before half time a defender tripped over the ball in the build-up, after which the striker took over and this time he did finish off: 1-0.

After halftime, PSV had to step up their game. After Nec saw an effort go just wide in the 47th minute, PSV took control of the game. Nec was forced back further and further. PSV lacked the sharpness in the final stages to put the equalizer on the scoreboard.

Yasin went close when he played himself free in the 47th minute, but his shot curled just wide. After Leandro left an opportunity unused in the 58th minute, it was a minute later. A good cross from Amar Catiç was almost tapped in by Justin, but Nec managed to block his effort. The ball got stuck in the 16 and ended up at the feet of Leandro, who volleyed it in hard and devastatingly.

A deserved equalizer at that stage and PSV almost took the 3 points. Unfortunately Amar shot a free kick opportunity over in the penultimate minute. So that the C1 of PSV lost points for the third consecutive time. However, the field play was well taken care of today and the team should build on that. Because barking dogs do not bite: it is important to convert the good field play into goals in the coming matches and reward yourself with that.

Next week the home game against another tough team: Fc Den Bosch.
