PSV C2 played today the always difficult away match against Willem II C2. That this generally is a difficult game was well understood by the boys because from the first minute they played well concentrated and fierce. Especially in the first half they played very well. At times Willem II was even tapped off the field, this was one of the best games of the season so far.
Already after a few minutes a good attack was set up by Thomas and Mohammed and Sherry was able to finish, but the goalkeeper saved the ball by catching it. A few minutes later a corner that was turned away was put back in by Farshad. This good cross came just a bit too far as Ivan fell just short to nod the ball in. After 10 minutes it was 0-1. It is a beautiful attack in which Ivan passes the ball well to Gijs, who comes up with the ball and places it ready at the first post. Albian, like a real striker, can lengthen the ball with his outside foot towards the long corner and is unstoppable for the goalie of Willem II.
After this a kind of incomprehensible show of the referee begins. Jesse supposedly held the ball too long in his own 16-meter area whereupon the best man decided to award an indirect free kick to Willem II. Willem II took good advantage by working the ball in at the bottom of the crossbar and bringing the score to 1-1 in the 14th minute. 3 minutes later, Thomas will receive a yellow card and also the referee will threaten to stop the match and get off the board of Willem II. After this akefaction, however, play will continue. PSV did not let themselves get off the hook and continued to play good football. The first chance after this is for PSV through a good attack through the center where Thomas' effort is saved by the goalkeeper. The first chance is again for PSV but after a double 1:2 between Mohammed and Ivan, Albian shoots just wide. Menno extended the ball with his head but it went wide after a good corner by Sherry. Just before half-time another good chance for PSV. Farshad steams through the center but Albian's final shot with the left is saved by the goalkeeper and the score is 1-1.
However, the boys came out of the locker room perfectly for the second half because after less than 20 seconds the ball was already in the net which meant a 1-2 lead. Thomas used one of his specialties, choosing the depth, to get free in front of the goalkeeper and played the ball, consciously or not, with an arc over the keeper. Another lead. But also quite soon after, in the 43rd minute, the 2-2 falls. A deep pass from Willem II falls between the defense and goalkeeper Jesse. Jesse tried to clear the ball but the striker blocked the shot and he had the ball in his hands. Another unfortunate goal against. But again PSV didn't give up and went for the win, which was more than deserved. Thomas reached Sherry with a brilliant through pass, who just as beautifully passed the goalkeeper with a little bow with the outside of the foot. The relief is then just as great on the Eindhoven side. In the remainder of the match there are not many more chances. Not even for Willem II due to good defensive work by Burak, Menno and Gijs who also played very well today. But PSV remains by far the best of the game. The only downside today was that they should have scored more goals, but all in all a good result with even 3 boys from the D1 still on the field in the end, namely Daan, Aaron and Sam. They also played well. A good win on a beautiful day in an entertaining match!
