After taking the three points at Sparta last week after a good comeback, the away game against NEC was on the schedule today. In the fall league we also played against them and had won 1-3.
There was a strong wind on the field today that both teams had to deal with. We started with the wind against us.
After 2 minutes NEC had a great chance after a throw-in, but it ended up on the post after which Kyan was able to turn it into a corner. Unfortunately a goal was scored from this corner which put us behind early, 1-0. PSV seemed a bit upset so in the 12th minute NEC was able to run through from the transition and put the ball back just before the back line where the striker could tap in the 2-0. In the 21st minute PSV got a free kick in the opponent's half. This was thrown in front of the goal by Davy and shot at the post by Vince. The ball came back into play and after good attention by Vince he was able to tap it in himself 2-1. Almost immediately after the kick-off NEC came in front of our goal again but again hit the post. After half an hour Benji intercepted the ball and played in Davy. Davy sends Remco deep and he prepares the ball well so Sem only has to shoot it in. 2-2 after a good attack! Just before half time PSV gets a throw in from which Benji throws the ball to Remco. He went on another adventure and could only be stopped in the 16 by a foul. Penalty for PSV! After mutual consultation the boys decided that Remco could take the penalty himself. He does not disappoint by shooting the ball high right into the corner. 2-3 at the stroke of halftime!
At halftime there were 3 substitutions. Joey replaced Tijn, Bryan replaced Benji and Joop replaced Vince.
We started much better after halftime and that immediately resulted in a good chance. After Sekou has a good individual action and puts Sem in front of the goalie with a cross pass, Sem only has to beat the goalie. He succeeds, but the goal only counts when the ball crosses the line and the NEC defender just stopped the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 46th minute, Gregory was taken off and replaced by Arne. A few minutes later Sem was replaced by Jay, Sekou was the new striker and Jay joined the midfield. In the 64th minute, Abou was unlucky in defending. The player of NEC could throw the ball in front of the goal and via via the ball NEC worked in. 3-3. Immediately after the kickoff, PSV went for the win again and got a big chance. After Remco had a good pass to Sekou, Sekou shot over from close range. After substitute coach Edwin de Wijs' watch indicated that regular playing time was over, the NEC goalkeeper gave Sekou another gift. After a deep ball from PSV, the goalkeeper tried to kick the ball away. But he hit the ball all wrong and it ended up at Sekou's feet. He gladly grabbed the ball and scored the 3-4. PSV still had not had enough and after a good individual action by Remco he put the ball perfectly on the head of Davy. He headed the ball in and made it 3-5. We took the three points back to Eindhoven. Class Boys!
