Great start after winter break
It took some getting used to for our boys after the winter break.
After 2 training sessions there was already a practice match against the E1 of Nemelaer on the
program (pfff). With a temperature of around 9 degrees Celsius, a moderate wind and no rain, it was fine football weather. Also for the spectators by the way.
Mohammed I., Mohammed N., Jeremy, Jurre, Jaydee, goalkeeper Robin (first half), goalkeeper Peter (second half) and Mathijs, saw an opponent enter the field who was literally one size bigger physically. (Top of head PSV = armpit height Nemelaer)
The first period of the match consisted mainly of probing the opponent, who regularly fired hard shots at the PSV goal. After about 10 minutes the 0-1 came not entirely unexpectedly.
Slowly our boys got better in their game and after a beautiful attack on the left, the Nemelaer goalie saw the ball disappear into the crossbar (1-1).
Nemelaer did not leave it at that and scored the 1-2 again from distance. PSV's answer came in the form of a nicely set up and quick attack across the lines that ended with a tuck-in (2-2). So far, things were fairly even, but you could feel that the game was slowly tilting.
In the break, trainer Willem used the water bottles to give his pupils some tactical tips, and they returned to the field with maximum motivation.
Nemelaer got one more lead (2-3) and then it was over.
The look in our boys' eyes, the fierceness with which they covered, the way they coached each other, the strength with which the shoulder push was executed, the passes, the dribbles, the goals, the cooperation, it was a joy to watch!
PSV was in great form and put heavy pressure on Nemelaer's so far undefeated E1. Four wonderful goals followed, bringing the final score to 6-3.
A great start after the winter break. We (the fans) hope to see many more games like this this season. And we think the trainers too ......................
