VVV started this match strongest, pinned PSV in their own half, and left three good opportunities to score unused. However, PSV defended like a solid block. Against the odds, PSV sneakily scored three goals from three counters. On a pass from Joris, Joey scored the first, 0-1. Shortly afterwards it was Sven who scored 0-2 on a Thijn pass. After fifteen minutes Joey shot in on a pass from Jaivy 0-3. Just before the end of the first half PSV could not get the ball away and VVV scored the more than deserved tying goal 1-3.
Also in the second half, VVV was on top but PSV managed to hold on by not giving anything away. After 35 minutes it all went wrong. PSV lost the ball badly and from a distance VVV shot the ball inside 2-3. At that moment PSV's strength was gone and VVV's pressure increased. PSV held on and went into the break with a small lead.
In the third half, as expected, VVV immediately went on the attack. Again, PSV defended well and from there PSV regularly looked for the attack. After about 45 minutes Joris managed to break through on the right and with a subtle hooded move he left his direct opponent behind him. Joris then shot at goal but the goalkeeper managed to block the shot. In the rebound Jaivy was in the right place and shot in 2-4. VVV kept on attacking but they were not lucky today. Then another great chance for Jaivy who shot into the top right corner, but VVV's goalkeeper plucked the ball out of the crossbar. Five minutes before the final whistle Joris scored the final goal. A shot by Niek was not held by the goalkeeper and Joris managed to grab the rebound to make it 2-5.
PSV lost the home game 3-9. Also today PSV had a hard time and it was fantastic how you played under pressure. Both teams deserve the compliments. VVV for their attacking football and PSV for their defensive work. Congratulations to the winner and that was PSV today.
