At Sparta's Nieuw Terbregge sports park, it is always windy and the wind affects the game. Also today, albeit to a lesser extent. We started well and after five minutes it is Ruben Bentancourt who is attentive when the Sparta goalkeeper cannot hold the ball and he scores the 0 - 1 in a controlled way. We have the opportunity to increase the score but our strikers' sights are not yet set. And so you see that Sparta shoots the 1 - 1 at the first opportunity in front of our goal. With this score we go into the break.
Immediately after the break, in the 47th minute, Eric Verstappen managed to keep the striker from scoring but the referee (who by the way was whistling an excellent match) saw that something did not go according to the rules and put the ball on the spot and sent Eric in with a red card. No card would have been given for such a foul in midfield. Zeus (who had also been in goal during the match against Sparta B1 just before) takes Eric's place but does not manage to stop the penalty kick. But we don't let ourselves be discouraged. And a few minutes later the ball is on the spot at the other end. Ruben Bentancourt impeccably seized the opportunity and we went on to win the game despite playing with ten men. Several more opportunities arise, also for Sparta, but no more goals are scored. So we both retain a point from this game and remain in fourth place for the time being. With three games to go it should be possible to hold this place.
