The Report
Today the last league match for PSV O13. Just like earlier this week, Sparta Rotterdam is the opponent. Only the pressure for PSV is much less than last Tuesday. After all, they are already champions and the cup final has been reached. Sparta on the other hand needs just one more point to compete in the highest league of the O14 next season.
The first big chance is for PSV in the 4th minute. Chahid el Allachi gives a nice cross to Ruben van Bommel. This puts him free in front of the Rotterdam goalkeeper. Unfortunately, he cannot elevator the ball enough to get it over the goalkeeper. After this Sparta dominated the game. Not at all surprising after PSV's program of the past few weeks. PSV looks tired. In the 16th minute it is Sparta that takes a deserved lead. It is the No. 10 Vooren of Sparta who manages to score with a perfectly executed overhead kick. PSV tries after this, but Sparta remains the better team. With the 0-1 arrears the team went to the dressing room for half-time.
After halftime, we do see a different PSV emerge. They are hunting for the equalizer. In the 44th minute it comes. It is Sven Simons who initially got the ball in the 16-meter area. But then he turned free and took a devastating shot. The goalkeeper was left defenseless in the short corner and the score was even. Now the character of this group comes back to the surface. They show that they still want to keep the 3 points in Eindhoven. Everything was done to achieve this but unfortunately the ball did not go in. But Sparta also came out dangerous a few times. But they also lack scoring power today. After a bad first half, PSV showed in the second half that the character of these boys is good. They gave it their all and also played well again at times. Even though there was nothing more at stake for PSV, they did not let the game go to waste.
So now comes the time for PSV to play the big finals. Coach Tim Wolf will do everything he can to get his team 100% ready for these special matches. Dates and times are not yet known, but behind the scenes people are working hard to make something special out of these matches. Keep an eye on the PSV site. On behalf of the players and staff I would like to thank everyone who supported us last season. Your support was very welcome.
