Today an exercise game was scheduled for the E1. The opponent was Wilhelmina Boys from Best. The visitors got off to a good start, which immediately resulted in two dangerous chances. The goal was not (yet) sharp or Pepijn was in the way. The only thing the home team could do in return was an attack on the left via Niels and Davy, who found Benjamin with a nice cross. His effort was turned away by the goalkeeper. In the third minute the visitors again threatened, resulting in a corner. A well taken corner kick was eventually worked into the goal by one of Wilhelmina Boys' players (0-1). This was the signal for our boys to step up their game. A good ball from Jay to Niels led to the equalizer. With seven-mile boots he crossed the field and at the right moment found Arne, who scored the 1-1 from the turn. Shortly thereafter, another beautiful attack could be noted. Now it was the turn of the right side, Jay showed his direct opponent at his heels and with a measured cross he reached Benjamin. The post prevented a second goal. A second goal was in the air, Ronald went close with a header from a Niels corner. Not much later the goal did come. After a nice action by Ronald, it was again Arne who ran free and scored the 2-1. The 3-1 was also the result of a nice individual action by Sem and finally Ronald gave the final push. On the stroke of half time Davy was allowed to take a free kick. His effort hit the bar. After half time our guests from Best slowly started to get tired and the home team took advantage of that. After half an hour Sem turned away from his opponent and found Davy on the left side of the pitch. From an impossible angle he put the ball in the far corner (4-1). After an action by Sem went just wide of the goal and an effort by Arne (after good preparation by Jay) was turned away by the goalkeeper, Wilhelmina Boys managed to get something back after a quick counter (4-2). The margin was quickly brought back to three. Now it was Rico who got well in front of his man and crossed the field with great strides. And after a quickly set up one-two with Arne, he managed to score for the third game in a row (5-2). In the last eight minutes of the match, the score was further increased considerably. First Ronald headed in a nice cross from Jay at the far post (6-2). Then the same Jay also scored a goal after another good cross from Arne (7-2). After a short corner between Jay and Ronald, Ronald scored his third of the morning (8-2). In the last goal of the match Pepijn had a big part. With an on-target kick, he found Arne, who extended the ball to Benjamin. With a rock hard shot into the short corner, he put the final score of 9-2 on the scoreboard. Although the team was still looking for the tenth goal, it did not come in the last two minutes.
