Despite a very poor performance, the B2 managed to keep all the points in Eindhoven on Saturday. Due to two good moments and the fact that Vitesse needed a penalty to score, the Arnhem guests were also victorious.

PSV played a weak 1st half in which Vitesse was literally given all the space to play football. As a result, although the Arnhem outfit had a better-looking game than PSV, they lacked real drive up front and only had one really good opportunity in the 30th minute, when an attacker cut inside the box and shot hard but found goalkeeper Kevin Doré in his path, who was playing one of his first games after his lengthy rehabilitation. Karim Bannani had put PSV ahead 1-0 before that, when he extended an incoming free kick from Jaëll Hattu with his head and let it disappear into the goal out of reach of the Vitesse goalkeeper.

The 2nd half started miraculously when in the 2nd minute, the referee's gestures initially seemed to punish a PSV foul with a penalty, but eventually put the ball down just outside the Eindhoven staff kick area. Nothing else came from the free kick that followed. 20 minutes later, the referee awarded Vitesse a penalty after all when an attacker was brought down illegally by an Eindhoven defender. The penalty was awarded and Vitesse scored the hard-fought equalizer a quarter of an hour before time. Where you would expect that both teams could live with that score, a hectic final phase ensued in which Vitesse also got chances, but striker Matthias Verreth eventually scored the winning goal for PSV. With a classic long ball, Kevin Doré sent the striker towards the Arnhem goal, where, after a self-assist, he found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper, who left the keeper defenseless with a controlled ball into the left corner. In short, a fine result despite a game that was hardly worth watching and should be forgotten soon.

Shortly before the decisive goal, captain Tom Scheepers fell out with what looked like a potentially serious knee injury. The B2 and staff would like to wish Tom a speedy recovery.
