Dylan Hopman gives PSV win at Varkenoord
O16 had a tough week ahead of them with the toppers against Ajax (Tuesday) and Feyenoord (Saturday) on the schedule. The 1-2 loss at home to Ajax left a bad taste in the team's mouth, but that feeling was washed away with a nice 0-3 win at Feyenoord on Saturday. With a leading role for midfielder Dylan Hopman, who, after scoring in the game against Ajax, was responsible for the entire Eindhoven production in Rotterdam.
Not a pure and perfect hat-trick, but the midfielder did give the team a very tasty victory. While the coach complimented the players on their best league game of the season so far, in the eyes of the Feyenoord staff PSV had taken the win by scoring only from standard situations. There was something in that as Dylan headed in all the goals after assists from Iggy and Mylian from corner kicks and a free kick, but PSV also became dangerous from footballing moments. The score could have been much higher before halftime when Iggy came in from the right and saw his shot into the far corner only just missed by the goalkeeper. The same Iggy took a falling ball on his shoe and saw it go just over the Feyenoord goal.
On the other hand, Feyenoord, which threatened PSV's goal several times in the first quarter of the first half, only managed to create one threat in front of Aron's goal in the second half, but otherwise failed to create any real chances or opportunities. PSV eventually took the win, with Iggy missing a chance to add to the score when he headed the Feyenoord goalkeeper alone in the 58th minute but the ball went too far out of his reach. So in the end a deserved victory for PSV.
Next Saturday, Nov. 17, O16 will play against FC Utrecht at 11:30 a.m. at de Herdgang.
