Not a monster score, but one of the best matches
It was 'only' 0-4 for PSV's F1 in and against Heeze today.
With the monster scores so far in mind, it might seem that today was a somewhat lesser day for the youngest PSV players.
But that was by no means the case.
Coach Willem even called it "the best game he had seen" afterwards. The boys managed to resist the temptation from other matches to want to score all by themselves because the difference in strength was so great. Instead, they showed how much they have already learned in their first weeks at PSV: keeping position, controlling the ball as quickly as possible, playing on time, choosing the right moment for an individual action and working hard.
At the training last Thursday the boys could also score in the game with their team if they managed to pass the ball 10 times without interference from the opponent. They were given that assignment beforehand today as well: 'Just pretend you also score when you pass the ball 10 times.'
That led to many nicely built attacks, to the delight of the crowd.
Heeze played very well from start to finish with a lot of effort, a good goalkeeper and regularly a bit of luck. The number of balls that hit the crossbar and post was impossible to keep track of. That could not spoil the fun for the parents, who enjoyed the development of the game.
One unpleasant blemish on this beautiful football morning was that goalkeeper Peter was injured and had to go to the hospital afterwards to have his knee stitched up. During one of Heeze's scarce outbreaks in the second half, Peter collided very unhappily with an opponent and had to leave the field with a big wound on his knee.
Fortunately Nigel turned out to have not only football skills but also goalkeeping skills which he showed especially during the penalty shoot-out (without goalkeeper gloves) after the match.
Peter good luck, hopefully you will be back soon!
