Roda started the match brightly and immediately put PSV under pressure. PSV struggled to get out from under the home club's pressure and PSV could hardly find the free man. PSV hardly won a game due to the fierce play of the home club. Despite Roda's field superiority, the home club hardly created any chances. Still, Roda took the lead. In the 17th minute a Roda free kick from 25 meters was initially turned away by Robin. In the rebound the Roda players were more alert and a Roda player tapped the ball in 1-0. PSV had little to contribute even after this deficit. Roda dominated and PSV lagged behind. This earned Roda a second goal in the 24th minute. After a minor foul in the penalty area, the referee awarded a penalty kick to the home club. This penalty kick was shot in impeccably 2-0. This was also the score at halftime.

In the second half a totally different picture. Now it was PSV that pressed and Roda JC had to go back. This gave PSV some opportunities in the first five minutes of the second half. In the 38th minute, a nice distance shot by Mohamed was cleverly plucked out of the air by the Roda goalie. PSV was the superior side in the second half, which resulted in the tying goal in the 48th minute after a foul on Amin just outside the penalty area. It was Amin himself who scored the 2-1 with a shot low into the corner. PSV went in search of the equalizer and in the 55th minute, a Jeremy effort was cleared off the goal line by a Roda defender. In the final minute of the match, a free kick by Jeremy was inadequately cleared by the Roda goalkeeper. The resulting chance was not taken. The final score was 2-1.

A game with two different halves. In the first half Roda JC was on top and PSV did not create a chance. In the second half, PSV was on top but could not correct the deficit.
