Today the under 12 light city derby was scheduled for the under 12 of PSV. In the 2 weeks prior to this match trainer Kevin prepared the boys well for this match. A friendly match was played against De Graafschap O12, this match was one to quickly forget as far as football was concerned, although they did win 4-1. And there was a practice match against Unitas O13 on Tuesday night, against a physically stronger and also a good playing Unitas they drew 3-3. In this match the boys showed that they can play football very well, with some very good football on the main field of "De Herdgang". The players also watched footage from the match against Brabant United, with a lot of explanation from the trainers about what went well and what didn't go well. So a lot of learning moments in the past weeks, and today the test to see if the players have understood this.
FC Eindhoven started this year with a youth training, most of the boys are playing for the first season with a BVO so they still have to catch up. This can also be seen in the rankings where our city rivals are at the bottom. So in advance one would say an easy match today. But this is also the trap where the O12 of PSV can easily fall into, and the match is approached too easily. One of the remarks of the trainers in recent weeks was, approach every match whether it is a topper against Barcelona or Real Madrid and do not take it too lightly.
Immediately after the first whistle it was clear that a lot of the previous weeks' instructions were implemented, the team played faster, there was more pressure forward, there was more teamwork and a lot less unnecessary long balls into the deep. In the 5th minute the score was opened by Joep, who reacted quickly after a failed lob from Martijn and neatly worked the ball in. By one of the few mistakes at the back Eindhoven got a great chance in the 7th minute, but Kevin had his angel on the crossbar today, and this angel did his job very well, so it remained 1-0. PSV was not offended by this and continued to play good football, D'Leanu sent a brilliant pass to Martijn, the Eindhoven defender had little option but to pull the emergency brake, penalty kick. Joris took this opportunity flawlessly 2-0. While I'm still writing, our Physio Nick commented that I missed a very nice header by Joep, well it went just over. After Eindhoven makes a mistake in the back in the 16th minute, the lurking striker Joris is very alert and immediately takes advantage 3-0. 6 Minutes later it is Mylian and Dylan who cross the field together, Joep gets the last pass and finishes this nice attack. By putting good pressure forward it's Joey who manages to intercept the ball, too softly shooting in prevents Joey's goal, the goalkeeper can save but didn't hold the ball, Martijn was running along well and reacts 1st 5-0. In the last minute before halftime there is Kevin's angel again, Eindhoven again on the crossbar.
PSV under 12 showed that they can play very good football, now also continue the line in the 2nd half.
3 Minutes after half time all players (except Lander the goalkeeper) come together in the 16 of Eindhoven, the ball is there too, and it is Mylian who works the ball devastatingly into the roof of the goal 6-0. After a few minutes a corner from Mylian that lands on the line, but still needs a tap from Martijn to go over the line 7-0. In the 48th minute it is prize shooting, several players bombard the goal, the Eindhoven goalkeeper manages to save well each time, until Joris gets the ball at his feet, a real striker's goal 8-0. In the 54 minute about the same situation but this time it is Gioele who is paying good attention 9-0. In the last minute the double figures appear on the scoreboard, after a shot by Dylan it is the goalkeeper again who stops, but Jesse is now in the right place 10-0. You would say an easy win, but Eindhoven regularly gave good opposition, and were unlucky a few times with the bar, they actually deserved a goal. But above all a compliment to the players of PSV, they showed good football throughout the match, and clearly showed that they paid attention to the instructions of coach Kevin and trainee coach Donny the past few weeks. Next week Tuesday a friendly match against trainer Kevin's son who plays in the D1 of BSV Limburgia, and Saturday friendly against ADO den Haag. Then the league match against NAC Breda who surprisingly won today against Feyenoord. So boys be warned and see it as another match against a very big club.
