PSV started the match well and managed to score as early as the third minute of the match. A nice ball from Mohamed over the Willem II/RKC defense came to Jeremy's feet. He laid the ball wide and Amin shot into the far corner, 1-0. PSV pressed further and in the seventh minute it was Djurre who hit the bar with a nice shot. PSV had a slight advantage in this phase of the match. In the 17th minute it was Willem II/RKC that had an excellent opportunity to score. A through ball through the heart of the PSV defense ended up with the striker of the visitors. His shot, however, went just wide of the goal. A few minutes later PSV extended the score through an attack that started on the right side with Thomas. The ball initially came to Jeremy. His shot was blocked by a defender. The ball then came to Jur but his shot was also blocked. Finally the ball came to Djurre who scored, 2-0. PSV maintained a slight advantage in the remainder of the first half but no real chances were created.

Willem II/RKC started the second half strongly. The first chance was for the visitors. However, the ball was shot into Robin's hands from close range. In the 41st minute PSV was again successful. A brilliant ball from Thomas ended up at the feet of Mohamed. From the edge of the penalty area Mohamed shot the ball high into the goal, 3-0. PSV maintained their advantage but could not create any more chances, except for a shot against the crossbar in the 47th minute. The visitors then began a final offensive but were unable to create any real danger. In the final minutes of the match, PSV tried to increase the score with distance shots. However, the shots did not hit the target so the final score remained 3-0.
