PSV opens league with win
After a nice tournament with attractive opponents in Madrid, in which a creditable 3rd place was achieved, the team of head coach Adil Ramzi had to face ADO Den Haag on Saturday at the Herdgang for the opening of the season. In a mediocre game against a traditionally difficult opponent, the team took its first win and striker Milan did good business on the top scorers list.
In the messy early stages, the first tentative chances were for ADO and PSV escaped an early deficit when captain Mylian went on an adventure in the back line in the 3rd minute. His ball loss led to a quick counterattack, but goalkeeper Jules stood fine and managed to prevent a goal. Halfway through the first half, PSV got a better grip on the game and a number of excellent chances were created. In this phase, striker Milan brought ADO the final blow with two fine goals within five minutes, both times after excellent preparatory action by Jasper. In the 18th minute, the right-wing striker sent Milan into the gaping hole behind the ADO defense with a fine pass, who was able to get to the outrunning goalkeeper on his own at speed, beat him perfectly and shoot in the 1-0. Five minutes later the striker tipped in a good tight low cross from the right from Jasper, 2-0, which (as it turned out later) already put the final score on the scoreboard.
Although ADO had another good opportunity on the stroke of halftime from a quick conversion and could even have the most claim to a goal in the second half when it shot at the post from close range in the 53rd minute, the score remained unchanged in the meager second half. Regardless, a good start for O16, with the full three points after a strenuous week.
Next week the men of O16 have to work hard. On Tuesday the away game against Ajax awaits, after which Feyenoord will visit Herdgang on Saturday. A fantastic week in which it will become clear where the team currently stands.
