  1. Match report

The first home game of the league was an old-fashioned topper for the C1 of PSV. With Feyenoord as an opponent, you know that it is always about "something".

Especially after PSV's draw against JVOZ last week, it had something to put right. From minute one, Feyenoord was forced back. The PSV players were fierce on the ball, and formed a tight collective. The first strike was a shot by Danté Rigo. Not much later, a free kick from him landed at the far post where Joey Konings' header hit the side netting. Partly because PSV were sloppy in the final stages of an attack, the glasses remained on the scoreboard for the time being. Slowly Feyenoord took over the initiative a bit. And PSV swooned when a header from the Feyenoord central defender came back into the field inside the post. Yet it was the Eindhoven side that found the net first. A cross from Jaëll Hattu ended up with striker Matthias Verreth, who then scored PSV's first league goal: 1-0. Apparently the players were so happy with this goal that they forgot to put the organization back in place. Because immediately after the kickoff, Feyenoord appeared dangerous in front of Mike van de Meulenhof's goal. The PSV goalie saved skilfully to give PSV a 1-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, PSV quickly made it 2-0 after Lennerd Daneels played the ball into Jaëll. A Feyenoord defender tapped the ball towards his own goalkeeper, but because the ball was too short Jaëll was able to use the tip of his shoe to get it past the outrun keeper and make it 2-0. Just like the first goal, Feyenoord became dangerous immediately after the kickoff. This time, however, it was a goal. A foul or no foul on Lassane Faye was not seen and the ball ended up at the feet of the Rotterdam striker, who shot the ball into the net in a controlled manner: 2-1! The game then went back and forth and both teams had chances to extend the score or score the equalizer. Joey Konings went close to making it 3-1 after lifting a free kick over the wall. But the Feyenoord goalkeeper managed to turn the ball into a corner. From this corner Jaëll had a shooting opportunity, but his shot was eventually blocked.

About 10 minutes before the end, Feyenoord managed to come alongside after a ball was headed in hard, 2-2. There were 10 exciting minutes left in which both teams had plenty of chances and opportunities for the full three points. Feyenoord had the best chances, but thanks to Mike's excellent goalkeeping, no goals were scored.

So a fascinating game ended in a 2-2 draw with the visitors being the winners. And not just because of the lovely autumn sunshine.....
