The wind is blowing hard in Rotterdam. The wind is in the length of the field and PSV starts with wind against. Sparta has some very fast guys up front and with the wind at their backs they try to take advantage of that. PSV plays good football in the first minutes and in the 10th minute Joop picks up the ball at the back and through a beautiful attack via Sekou, a cross to Remco, who puts the ball back to Davy, who coolly finishes the attack and makes 0-1.
After this goal, PSV falls way back in field play and gives Sparta the space to utilize their speed and come alongside in the 20th minute, 1-1.
This is also the halftime score.
PSV gets to kick off the second half and 20 seconds later the ball is already in the net again. Unfortunately, after two back-to-back plays on the wrong side of the pitch, 2-1.
Five minutes later it is again a setback when PSV does not get the ball away in the back and Sparta works the ball into the ropes again, 3-1. This setback was apparently necessary for a moment, as PSV recovered and went in search of the tying goal. When the Sparta goalkeeper unnecessarily picked up a back pass, PSV took advantage of the free kick. Remco managed to shoot the ball in between ten opponents, 3-2. The strength of this team lies in the collective and now that this is back in place they take control of the game again with several good chances of which two are exploited. First a breakaway at speed through the middle that was eventually worked in by Remco, and then a dropped ball from the sixteen was shot between the posts by Arne. From a 3-1 deficit to a 3-4 victory and three points in the bus to Eindhoven, class boys.
