PSV did excellent business Saturday in the cracker against FC Utrecht, which was knocked off the lead earlier. In the duel for first place, PSV beat Utrecht handsomely with a 0-4 victory, putting them even further away and leaving PSV in the lead.
PSV eventually played their way out of the Utrecht game more easily than expected, which, with the physically strong team, was mainly focused on fighting and engaging in duels. With their own positional play, however, PSV gave Utrecht virtually no chance to get into duels, and PSV often found their way to Utrecht's goal with good combinations. In the 12th minute PSV really should have scored the opening goal, when Armando Obispo reached Joey Konings with a fantastic deep ball who ran into the penalty area and laid the ball wide to the incoming Youandi Renfurm who saw his effort go over, however. 5 minutes later, the 0-1 appeared on the scoreboard when Marco Weymans sent striker Joey Konings alone with a nice cross to the Utrecht goalkeeper, who shot the 0-1 in a controlled manner, and who by the way had that good action followed only a few minutes later by a stupid yellow card, which means he is suspended for the next match. Utrecht had only one good chance in the first half from a counter attacker who shot low from the edge of the penalty area, but his effort was turned away by Mike van de Meulenhof. A good half-time score although the first half ended with a setback for Tom Scheepers, who made his comeback after 8 weeks of injury but on the stroke of halftime re-injured his knee. Hopefully the injury will not be too bad for Tom, get well!
In the 2nd half, PSV built up the score regularly and with apparent ease. In the 3rd minute after the break, Jaëll Hattu sent Youandi Renfurm deep on the right with a good pass, who passed the ball over the ground, after which it ended up at the feet of Marco Weymans via the goalkeeper, who did not hesitate and shot the 0-2. 5 minutes later he was also handed the 0-3 on a silver platter by Joey Konings, who went well over a poor ball, rounded the going goalkeeper and laid the ball back to the incoming Marco Weymans, who shot his 2nd of the afternoon unchallenged. 0-3 and although after that it became clear that Utrecht would not score any more goals this afternoon as the 2 big chances they got were shot well over and against the crossbar respectively, Youandi Refurm made it 0-4 with the most beautiful goal of the afternoon. From an almost impossible angle, almost from the back line, he managed to shoot the ball in between the first post and the goalie... On behalf of the staff; that mustache must not come off!
