  1. Match report

Today at home against Fortuna Sittard. The club where Mark van Bommel received his training was our guest at the Herdgang on this rainy Saturday morning.

On a soaking wet pitch we were surprised by our visitors. They put early pressure on our half but fortunately we did not get into trouble. Behind the Fortuna defense there was some space which Jur managed to take advantage of. After a shot against the goalie, he scored on the rebound. Controlled with his left hand into the short corner, 1-0.
In the second half we started to play more and more on the Fortuna half. It looked like we had the game under control. But appearances were deceiving, two counters killed us. The fast striker was cold-blooded in front of the goal and so we were 2-1 behind. We continued to play our game and did not let ourselves be distracted. Mathijs distributed the play in the midfield and we got better, the 2-2 was not long in coming. Heritier went close with a shot on the crossbar. Moments later he was able to put Mohamed Nassoh in front of the goalie. He calmly outplayed the goalkeeper and shot into the roof of the goal. 2-2.
In the 3rd half, conditions got tougher. Rain, cold, wet field and a hard-working opponent made it difficult for us. Fortunately, Genrich had a nice action that allowed Heritier to tap the ball in. The score was back in our favor. 3-2. We did not keep this up for long. At a Fortuna corner the referee saw a handball and put the ball on the spot, 3-3. Despite the tough conditions we continued to play football in the Limburg half, which created space behind our defense. Another quick counter was mercilessly punished by the outside right of Fortuna. 3-4. We still had ten minutes to do something about this score. And we did. After some great chances, it was Mohamed-Amine Ihattaren who crossed to Heritier. Our Flemish left-winger tapped the ball in for the second time in a controlled manner, 4-4. With seconds left on the clock, it looked like it would be a draw. But it didn't. Mohamed-Amine Ihattaren had one last shot in his legs. And it came out, this brilliant outreach resulted in a 5-4 win!
We fought until the last second today and we were rewarded for that with a nice win. Next week we will visit FC Eindhoven. Our compatriots are doing very well so we will have to be razor sharp.
