PSV D1 ended the difficult away match against RKC D1 with a deserved 5-2 victory. PSV started strongly and it was not long before Rai Vloet scored the 0-1 with a well-aimed shot from the edge of the penalty area. RKC started to attack a bit more and even created a chance, which went wide. To everyone's surprise, the referee saw a foul on the RKC striker and gave a penalty kick. This penalty was taken by RKC, making the score equal again. RKC continued to attack boldly and this resulted in a goal after a nice action along the back line. RKC were 2-1 ahead. Our boys did not let this bother them and rolled up their sleeves a bit more. Just before halftime, Jeroen Meefout managed to get around the opponent on the right side with the 'lobster' and get to the back line. He sent in a tight cross that was shot in at the far post by Olivier Rommens, who played with the ball excellently. This meant a 2-2 halftime score. In the second half, PSV switched to a higher gear and RKC was put with their backs against the wall. It soon resulted in the second goal from Olivier Rommens, after good passing by Endy Opoku Bernadina. Shortly after, the RKC striker seemed to break through, but Sander Heesakkers managed to prevent a goal at the last moment thanks to his speed. Our goalkeeper Daan Bollen also distinguished himself by stylishly punching a RKC free kick out of the top corner.
Then it was the turn of captain Gino Girigori, who delivered the final blow to RKC with the best goal of the match.
Finally, shortly before time, Endy Opoku Bernadia made it 5-2 after a good move.
It was an exciting match against Jordy de Wijs' old team and coach Rick's new team, which was deservedly won by PSV.
