PSV C2 suffered a shocking 4-1 defeat against a much stronger NAC C2 in the first league game of the fall competition.
Two minutes into the game, PSV C2 were already beaten by a gift from the otherwise well-playing NAC goalkeeper, who dropped the ball after a free kick by Jeroen Meefout out of his hands and right into the feet of Rai Vloet, who eagerly grabbed the gift and made it 0-1 from close range. Two minutes after PSV's opening goal the ball was already behind the bewildered Jeroen Meurs, through a distance shot that disappeared exactly over Jeroen Meurs into the PSV goal (1-1). It was striking that almost all personal duels were decided in favor of the Breda players. After fifteen minutes of play, unnecessary ball loss on the PSV side was mercilessly punished by NAC (2-1). PSV rebounded for a moment, but after Jeroen Meefout missed a good chance it was NAC that, despite the strong headwind, increased the pressure on the PSV goal. Thanks to two excellent saves by Jeroen Meurs, PSV C2 was spared a bigger deficit in the first half.
In the second half, PSV tried with all their might to put pressure on the NAC defense, which resulted in two good chances that were unfortunately missed. Jordy de Wijs fired a free kick at the post after twenty minutes, which put paid to PSV's efforts. NAC lurked on the counter and got reward for their hard work, when one of the counters coolly scored the 3-1. After this it was open house for PSV and NAC strung together one big chance after another. That NAC scored again from this was no surprise to the many spectators, making the final score 4-1 in favor of NAC. PSV C2 will have to change their ways in the next matches to rectify this disappointing result.
