  1. Match report

After not playing a league game for two and a half weeks, the C1 played this weekend against Fc Dordrecht. After all, last weekend was cup football (1-2 win over Excelsior) and the weekend before that the team stayed in England for an international tournament (3rd place finish).

Fc Dordrecht thus. The team had "full house" after 3 games: 1 win, 1 draw and 1 win. And PSV was missing some players. Ruud was still injured, Lars dropped out in the warm-up, and Robin and Justin played with the B-youth. Exactly as PSV wants: let players play against maximum resistance. In addition, Amar was not yet 100% fit. This meant a starting place for 2 players from the C2: Davy van den Berg and Remco Evenepoel.

The match was played on the artificial turf in the stadium of Fc Dordrecht. From the first whistle, PSV took the initiative. This led in the 6th minute to a great chance for striker Cody Gakpo, who hit the keeper's outstretched foot. PSV had most of the ball possession but did not create any clear-cut chances. Dordrecht lurked on mistakes by the Eindhoven team and frequently used the long ball.

In the 25th minute, PSV took the lead when it was awarded an easily awarded penalty. Remco Evenepoel was lightly pushed in the back from a Yasin Aalillou cross, but enough for the referee to point to the spot. Armando Obispo Evenepoel got behind the ball and fired a controlled shot: 0-1. PSV could not hold the lead for long, as 2 minutes later Dordrecht hammered in a free kick from 18 meters. As PSV failed to take advantage of the opportunities it did get, the two teams went to rest 1-1.

In the 2nd half, PSV had a dream start. In the 37th minute, after a fine multi-directional attack, the ball went to Amar Catiç who enabled Cody Gakpo to put the 1-2 on the scoreboard. Two minutes later it was Amar again who passed the ball to the second post where Remco Evenepoel shot the ball in: 1-3.

The spell was broken and PSV let the ball circulate well and easily. Waiting for the next chance. And that came in the 52nd minute when Leandro Fernandes with a velvet cross put Cody free in front of the goalkeeper, who then beat him and easily scored 1-4.

The final chord was for Yasin Aalillou who scored the 1-5 in the 62nd minute after (again) an action by Amar at the first post. Unfortunately a little later a header by Yasin landed on the inside of the post after a fine corner by Leandro.

So the match ended in a spacious victory that was by no means flattered. A nice and fine result from a very young team on the field today!
