  1. Match report

    0-1, 0-2, Yorbe 1-2, Yorbe 2-2, 2-3.

On the program today is the practice match against Feyenoord. After 3 weeks of training, a tournament in Wittenhorst and a real pro week we are curious to see where the boys stand.
At the stroke of 10 a.m. the kick-off took place on a perfect (artificial) turf pitch and with the sun shining brightly. The first minutes consisted mainly of exploring the opponent and the teams seemed very evenly matched. There were not many chances, although Feyenoord had three corner kicks after five minutes without really being dangerous. The first chance was on the other side of the pitch, Shurandy came forward well and with a nice pass put Stijn in front of the goalkeeper, unfortunately his attempt went just wide. Then the game went up and down. Jeffrey made some great saves to prevent Feyenoord from taking the lead, while Beslan and Yorbe in front also had a few small chances. The defense with Mees, Shurandy and Thijs didn't give away much more and the game was 0-0 at halftime.
After half time both teams showed that they had many qualities and all brakes were released. The first ten minutes PSV had to pull out all the stops and there was a constant threat from the Rotterdam side, which resulted in two beautiful goals 0-2. Luckily just in time PSV straightened their back and could become dangerous again. With the emerging backs Mees and Dennis they showed their attacking intentions again and from the eleventh minute PSV clearly got the upper hand. While combining the boys created plenty of chances, the first was for Damian who found the Rotterdam goalie in his way after a nicely set up attack via Jochem and Yorbe. Shortly after that Damian was once again alone in front of the goalie after a nice cross from Jochem, this time he hit the ball hard against the post. Shortly afterwards Damian again had a shot which was stopped by the keeper but he could not control the ball. The rebound was for Yorbe who first hit the bar but was able to head the rebounding ball in, 1-2. A few minutes later PSV equalized, building up from behind the goal the ball came to Mees who with a brilliant pass put Yorbe in front of the goalie, as usual he knows how to deal with this kind of chances and scored through the legs of the goalie, 2-2. The boys thought they could take it easy now but that gave Feyenoord hope again. With another fantastic save Jeffrey seemed to drag our team through. However, unfortunately after losing the ball in midfield, the next goal was scored, 2-3. PSV did not have much time left but still got one good chance from a cross by Jochem, a hard header by Shurandy went just wide. So our friends from Rotterdam took the win anyway.
Next week the league starts; our Red-Whites are ready for it.
