Today we played at home against MVV. We had won narrowly against them on away, so we had to be 100% sharp to keep the three points in Eindhoven today.
We started in a controlled way. As often, we played well in the first half. MVV did not create any chances, but we did not become dangerous either. We went into the break 0-0.
In the second half Mohamed-Amine Ihattaren broke the spell. From about twenty meters, he shot the ball unparalleled into the crossbar. 1-0. Unfortunately MVV did something back. A dropped ball from a corner was shot into Robin's goal, 1-1. But we continued to play well. This resulted in a goal by Mathijs. Via the wet field he shot the ball into the corner. We were now 2-1 ahead. MVV was not dangerous anymore and we played at a high level. The 3-1 was in the air. Mathijs played a deep pass to Heritier, who shot against the goalkeeper but Jur was quick to tap in the 3-1. In the second half our outside players made some nice moves but unfortunately we did not score anymore. We rested with a 3-1 lead.
Our goal was to extend this lead in the third half. And we did. In a counter, Jeremy gave the ball to Genrich. He played past his man effortlessly and slid it into the long corner. 4-1. MVV had few chances but still they managed to score once more, 4-2. Fortunately, we kept directing the game and this resulted in several more chances but we were a little unlucky in finishing.
Today we played a very good second half and we showed that we are getting a step better every week. Next week there is no league game on the schedule but on November 17 we play at home against Roda JC.
