After a perfect training weekend in Heerenveen, in which our boys showed that they can also do well on a large field, today we had another league match on the program. Not just one but the championship match. Because the E1 had a free weekend, a full selection travelled to the Aalsterweg where RPC was the opponent. Although the day started fairly sunny, dark clouds soon gathered over the complex. Soon it started to rain, which did not make the field any better. In addition to the field, the game ball was also not of a great quality. Fortunately our boys did not let this get them down and started the game at a high pace. They often looked for and found Arne. Just like in the third minute after a nice attack via Rico, Jay and Benjamin, Arne was found again, who put Yassin free in front of the goalkeeper with a clever cross. Unfortunately for the visitors the ball went just wide of the goal. There was also some danger on the left. Halfway through the half Niels set up a one-two with Davy. His effort went wide via the leg of an RPC player. From the corner Jay headed just over. At the other end, we had to watch out for the dangerous raids by RPC. Especially the striker was close to scoring a goal, but his effort was dealt with excellently by Pepijn. So the game was rested at 0-0. Just like three weeks ago, RPC was empty and within one minute after half time PSV scored. Via Tijn and Joop the ball came to Joey and without hesitation he shot the ball from about 15 meters on goal (0-1). The emotion and team spirit was evident when celebrating the goal. All the players (including the substitutes) were on top of Joey cheering. Less than five minutes later, the game seemed to be played. Now it was Koen, who had received the ball from Bryan, who tried it from distance and also successfully (0-2). Yet RPC straightened its back once more. A long kick from behind was shot at goal by the striker. Kyan was able to save the ball, but in the rebound he also had no chance (1-2). After that it was Joop's turn to play one inimitable action after another. This was also the case in the 38th minute. He received the ball from Sem on the right side of the pitch and sent three men into the woods and his cross was worked into the goal by Gregory (1-3). The 1-4 was also a goal by Gregory, who shot well into a corner. In the 44th minute Gregory made a flawless hat-trick after another wonderful action by Joop he managed to score the 1-5. While the legion was already busy uncorking the champagne, RPC scored the 2-5 in injury time. After the final whistle the party started. From the PSV youth board Cees van Merode had beautiful words for the players, trainers and coaches. Coach Bastiaan and trainer Tim were also proud of the group.
