The report

This league match between PSV O19 and Vitesse O19 was not played on the familiar main field at De Herdgang, but on the artificial turf of field 4. This field was made snow-free especially for this match.

PSV started the game a little too cautious, which resulted in a few dangerous moments in front of goalkeeper Mike van de Meulenhof's goal in the first few minutes. After this, PSV picked up the thread and started to play football as they have done more often in recent weeks. In the ^26th minute Amar Catic reached the back line at speed and played the ball back to Joël Piroe, who had run in. But he saw his effort hit the goalkeeper's fists. In the 32nd minute, an identical chance for Piroe, only now the ball is put back by Zakaria Aboukhlal and the PSV striker again hits the fists of the Vitesse goalie. A minute later, the ball does hit the net. Maxime Soulas controls the ball from a cross with his chest and lays it ready for the in-running Michal Sadilek. The PSV captain shot the ball from the edge of the penalty area into the roof of the goal: 1-0. PSV went into the break with a deserved lead.

Immediately after the break, it is Justin Lonwijk who plays to the free Aboukhlal on the right. He sees Piroe standing in the penalty area and this time the PSV O19 striker scores: 2-0. A fine goal. This makes the game seem to be played early in the second half. It takes until the 67th minute before PSV create another opportunity. A nice opening from Lonwijk to Sekou Sidibe. He takes the ball neatly and goes outside his opponent. His shot unfortunately goes just wide. After this there are some more small chances for Mark van Bommel's boys, who had a good position in the back. The PSV defense gave little or nothing away. It could have been 3-0 in injury time, but the effort after a good combination between Piroe and Lonwijk was cleared off the goal line by a Vitesse defender.

The next game for the league is on Saturday, March 17, away at ADO Den Haag, in between which there is an away game for the cup against Sparta Rotterdam on Tuesday, March 13 (4 p.m.) and a practice game with Fortuna Sittard (March 7).
