In the first half, it was an evenly matched match. Both teams tried to find the free man with quick combinations. The defense of both teams was good so hardly any chances were created. The few opportunities that did exist went just wide or were parried by both goalkeepers. The half-time score was 0-0.

PSV started the second half stronger and this was immediately expressed in goals. In the 32nd minute, Jeremy played the ball to Genrich. Genrich cut out a Helmond Sport defender and shot into the far corner to make it 1-0. From Helmond Sport's kickoff, Genrich immediately put pressure on the visitors' defense, giving him possession of the ball. Genrich went alone to the Helmond Sport goalkeeper and tapped in the 2-0. Thus PSV had a comfortable lead within three minutes in the second half. PSV continued well and kept Helmond Sport under pressure. This did not allow the visitors to get back into the game. In the 40th minute, PSV increased their lead. A cross from the visitors was intercepted by Jeremy. Jeremy shot high into the goal from the edge of the penalty area, 3-0. Two minutes later it was another goal. Mathijs dribbled up and played the ball to Luuk. Luuk then shot into the far corner to make it 4-0. PSV maintained their field advantage and this resulted in a goal two minutes before time. After a good push by PSV the ball ended up in Jur's hands. With a high arch he shot the ball behind the Helmond Sport goalie, 5-0. This was also the final score.
