PSV started the match strongly and immediately put pressure on Dongen. Dongen limited itself to defending in the beginning of the match. In the first fifteen minutes, PSV's threat came mainly from two distance shots by Niek and Amin. Neither shot hit the target. In the 16th minute, PSV did manage to score. Mathijs dribbled in and played the ball to Luuk. Luuk's subsequent cross was tapped in by Jur, 1-0. PSV kept the upper hand in the match. Dongen collapsed and lurked on the counter. PSV did not create many chances in this phase of the match. In the last minute of the first half PSV had a nice opportunity to score. Mohamed played himself free but his shot ended up in the hands of the Dongen goalkeeper.

In the first minute of the second half, PSV managed to score immediately. Djurre crossed well on the left side of the pitch. His cross was tapped in by Jeremy, 2-0. In the 40th minute, Dongen had an opportunity to score from a counter on the left. However, the shot went wide. A few minutes later Djurre was close to a goal. His shot from the left, however, hit the outside of the post. In the 49th minute, PSV extended the lead further. A deep ball to Jeremy was laid wide by him to Niek. Niek shot the ball impeccably, 3-0. In the final minute it was again PSV that scored. A deep ball from Mohamed came into the feet of Jeremy. Jeremy shot the ball over the goalkeeper into the goal, 4-0.
